Enthusiastic Beginnings

Mrs. Sayuri has been our little ballerina dancer for a while. But she just recently started taking formal lessons. It was always apparent to us that she was a natural at being graceful and had good rhythm. I had a time finding her a place to take lessons that was near by. I actually noticed the sign for this place that she takes lessons at on a telephone pole.

The teacher is great. She’s Costa Rican and seems to be in her early twenties. She doesn’t speak much English and Mrs. Sayuri doesn’t speak much Spanish, so they help each other.

Mrs. Sayuri is in the class of 3-4 year olds I believe. She tried the older girl class (of 5-6 year olds) and said she preferred being in the little girl class as she calls it. She told me right off that there is a little girl in her class that is very cute and reminds her of her old friend Bear who moved away. This little girl, Yulisa, is 3 1/2 years old.

Rough Middle With A Happy Ending

We had a rough middle where she cried and didn’t want to go. We figured out a solution to this where we could have the teacher leave the door open during class. Mrs. Sayuri kept saying she wanted to see her family while she practiced in class. This solved the tears. She has worked her way up to having the door closed again for class and we are so proud. She’s doing great and is sure she wants to continue now. As I understand it, there will be a year end recital. I can’t wait to be there for that. Our little girl is growing up.
